Resumo: |
Buildings form a peculiar landscape in cities, especially in metropolises, revealing the way in which it was and continues to be produced from spaces and allowing diferente perspectives on society, since the name of the buildings, as well as the name of the places, comes from historical, geographic and anthropological processes that, added to political, economic and social factors, create a variety of nomenclatures that name paths, streets, squares and buildings. Geographic space is the result of all these transformations and characterizes the type and degree of intervention in certain places, since the producing agents modify, alter and give new meaning to these places (re)creating forms and giving them functions in cities, making them increasingly complex. Fortaleza is part of this context within the scope of its urbanization, verticalization and metropolization through the construction and naming of buildings, marks of a recent past in the Center and predominant in other neighborhoods. The general objective is to relate verticalization and toponymy based on the names of buildings in the Aldeota and Meireles neighborhoods. The methodology chosen to develop the thesis covers qualitative and quantitative aspects based on descriptive, documentary and bibliographical research with the aim of apprehending and understanding the city's phenomena and facts through methodological procedures, such as: bibliographical survey through repositories and scientific journals and the processing of secondary data from a database available in bodies and departments. The names of buildings became a by-product of verticalization, in addition to materializing the valorization of urban land and, consequently, its surroundings as marks in space and time responsible for spatial (re)organization and alteration of urban morphology. There is the establishment of relationships between the production of urban space, verticalization and toponymy in the way in which denominations accompanied changes in the city and the world, correlating geographic, historical and architectural aspects, as well as linguistic ones, based on the list of types of toponyms and classifying them according to their taxonomy. Thus, studies on toponyms help to understand the place and all the elements that constitute it within the city, since it is a reading based on the understanding of the construction of the names of residential, commercial and mixed-use buildings and the its urban function goes beyond the marketing aspects (which are also part of this process), but which also crosses the material and delves into subjectivity through the idea that is realized in shapes and heights. |
