Departing from any place can be a way to philosophize. And this point of departure is a space for questionings that have often been formulated by other philosophers in the past. It is the constant love or friendship for knowledge. Formulating philosophical questions is the basis of philosophizing or teaching philosophy. Reading a novel can be a starting point to philosophize, as well as a way of creating the conditions of possibilities for high school students to think philosophy beyond merely memorizing content. When reading a novel, one silently and collectively experiences the characters' subjectivities, which help to formulate questions. Young people can learn to think about issues that are proper to human beings when they follow a story, observe the plot in space and time, get tense with the climax and wait for a possible end. Romances are full of all the human problems that can be observed in reality; they, moreover, make it possible to discern subjectivities, which also attract young people. Literature is important not only to awaken the taste for reading a good novel, but also to serve as a foundation for reflections on philosophical concepts that relate to living a good life in the world. In this sense, the Sophrosyne Reading Club seeks to provide romanesque reading as a way to philosophize. It also aims at creating a collective environment for reading and philosophical argumentation based on novels, in addition to fostering youth autonomy. The methodology used in the research was action research. From the present research we had as results the philosophize through the novels for 6 long periods. |
