Resumo: |
The present work aims to show the importance of the Geometric Design discipline in the mathematics curriculum of Basic Education, once the discipline has become optional in the Brazilian curriculum. We will show that the practice of geometric constructions enables the use of problem solving and action planning strategies. This set of activities, provided by this area of knowledge, challenges the rational student field, so it is quite probable that the student's interest in learning mathematical and geometric concepts is born from this context, which justifies the importance of this discipline in composition of the basic education curriculum. In order to reach our goal, we will make some geometric constructions step by step, using the concepts of flat geometry to justify them, and in the end, we will present some applications, showing that these constructions are not merely a collection of memorized recipes. Due to the extension of the subject, we will follow a summary that covers the content taught in the 9th Year of Elementary Education, obviously not in its entirety, but in order to reach our goal, such as: obtaining the root of the equation of the 1st grade by Euclidean method; graphical resolution involving rational and irrational expressions; segment determination knowing its sum / difference and its geometric mean; and graphic resolution of the 2nd degree equation. |
