Resumo: Supported by the concept of strategic activity, theBrazilian business logistics have been characterized by innovation and the search for alternative systems for disposing the production, especially in light of the bottlenecks of transport for exports and supply of the internal market. One of the great examples is the market for bulk, the basis for all the productive chains, that the great demand for transport, suffers the restrictions of "logistical Brazilian blackout." In the state of Pará, the situation is not different. Many alternative transport have been developed. It is the multimodal transport of iron ore by the Tocantins River. The cargo, transported on a large scale by the river, suffers transhipment road only by a stretch of four kilometers in the city of Tucuruí, depending on the bus from the river resulting from the hydroelectric of the same name. This dissertation proposes the application of modeling and simulation for the diagnosis and analysis of the multimodal transport system. Initially, it built a theoretical framework for the context of the transport system, the modeling and simulation. Then, the models are structured as a conceptual and computational system. The computer model that is developed in the work, are carried out sensitivitysanalyses by changes in the values of input variables predetermined. The evaluation of the influence of the results obtained with all stages of the system, enables one to reacha suitable operational size. Finally, suggestions and recommendations are submitted for possible deepening of this research.
