Resumo: |
The purpose of this work was to carry out a study, through memory, of the history of the Quilombo de Queimadas, located in the municipality of Crateús-Ceará. The work has its analyzes and reflections developed around themes such as identity, territory, ethnicity, education, quilombola organization, among other terms, intertwined by oral reports collected in the field research. In addition to this material, we resorted to official documents, recognition and quilombola self-identification issued by the Palmares Cultural Foundation and by INCRA – National Institute of Agrarian Reform. The reconstitution of this social history recovered oral reports from the older subjects of the quilombo and also from the younger subjects, aged between 8 and 27 years. The reports make up a picture that highlights the struggle of these people to survive on the land and earn their descendants' livelihood from there, as well as to maintain, through the new generations of quilombo remnants, the firmness of the quilombola struggle for organization and the right to have their territory, living and survival space. The denial of education contextualized to the experiences of this community, something guaranteed by law, is another relevant element for the discussion that emerges from the reports of the young people. This research, documentary and field, gave rise to a pedagogical booklet, recording quilombola history and memory. The booklet will it’s a didactic subsidy to contribute to high school sociology classes at public schools, mainly at the José de Araújo Veras school, located in the district of Queimadas where the quilombo is located |
