Resumo: The object of this research is to examine how the Union of Construction Workers of Fortaleza – STICCF – built a struggle workers history producing an ideological fortress and class consciousness that for many years had seemed the impossible sun of a lost summer night. In the research we present as political education appears as part of this ideological fortress of the proletariat and this revolutionary activity. We examine the problem bringing out observations, surveys and analyzes of the most fruitful relations between social struggle and the complex thematic about class consciousness and ideology. This is an issue that certainly inspires controversy, and could not be any other way. It seems fruitful the election of a clear perspective. With this in mind, we anticipate that are inspired by the Marx and the Marxist method with the strong conviction that, in theory, as in life, it is necessary make choices and set guidelines. Briefly, this is how the questions are dealt here, although we are aware that it is a long and complex discussion on which cannot imagine that already have at hand all the answers.Effectively, we have some hypotheses and they constitute our starting point. In that sense, we present as search results: 1) the rise and reorganization processes of the union movement, in which the STICCF was involved, contributed significantly to political education of a whole generation of leaders in the construction industry; 2) that part of the vanguard originated from the struggles of STICCF turned into an advanced detachment of class - union leaders - then taking responsibility for their political education and class consciousness; 3)STICCF contended your ideology and class consciousness even when sailing against the tide in which Brazilian unionism plunged in the first decade of the 2000s, keeping the political education of thousands of workers at construction sites, forming new generations of leaders in the civil construction of Fortaleza.
