Resumo: The purpose of this investigation, which covered the central section of Plato's Sophist (236e- 264b), went to show that predication of the names is mediation between the intelligible forms and the reality of physical phenomenologies, allowing wich the sensitive things to participate in the intelligible reality. Therefore, these thesis is an attempt to answer the following problem: how is it possible for theory of the Forms to not only speak of itself, but also to refer the sensitive? To answer this question, it was necessary to present an overview of the answers presented by Plato for the problems of the not-being (Sophist, 236e-241e); research the difficulties encountered by the pre-Platonic tradition in defining the 'being' (Sophist, 242c- 250a); and expose of the dialectic of the genres, with the intention of presenting the reformulation of the negative, while the difference (Sophist, 250a-259e). This investigation is justified because allows the theory of forms refer to the sensitive, in order to predication it, not being restricted while a theory which refers only to relations between the intelligible forms. The result that we obtains, at the end of this investigation, went truth or falsity is not in the intelligible forms or in the reality of physical phenomenologies, but in the correspondence or non-correspondence of the predicate that we attributes to these dimensions of reality.
