Resumo: The increasing use of Digital Technologies of Information and Communication (DTIC) has outlined a major transformation in the teaching-learning process and is causing a significant change in the educational world process. This study sought to evaluate the use of DTIC in continuing education for professionals in primary health care at the 11th Health Region - Ceará in 2012, knowing the demographic profile and academic of these professionals, identifying the main DTIC used in the process of Continuing Education Health (EPS) and also identifying their challenges and difficulties in the use of DTIC. This was a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. As data collection instrument used was a questionnaire survey monkey mounted virtual sent to emails of physicians, nurses and dentists of the 24 municipalities that make up the 11th CRES. Data were analyzed from 232 questionnaires,a total of 457 calls.In the present study, the rate of return the questionaire via on line was quite significant, in that for Marconi and Lakatos(2005), questionnaires are sent to respondents reached on average 25%return, whereas in this research therate was50.76% (n=232).The results showed that professionals Strategy in Family Health (SFH) of the 11th CRES are mostly female, aged 26-32 years, married, with children, with operations in the countryside, with complete specialization, working informally for approximately 2-8 years at SHF for 03 years and in the current team, they work 8 hours a day, equivalent to 40 hours weekly. Regarding the insertion processes of EPS, the study population is shown participative last year, occurring most likely the refresher courses (81.0%) and specializations (62.1%). On its own initiative to use some strategies for catching up on that reading books and magazines (77.2%) was the most cited. Inserted in the process of technological innovation education, 81.5% have already conducted show improvement courses or specialization using DTIC as means and strategies in the educational process, and distance education (DE) with 56.5%, the technology more pointed. As to the main stimuli encountered in the use of DTIC strategies while continuing health education was obtained socialization and exchange of experience (69.0%), deepening the subject (66.4%), and among the main difficulties was mentioned knowledge access - local information available (74.1%) and the availability of time (66.4%). Due to be emerging scientific literature on the topic under study, it is expected to have contributed, through the results and the study of literature on the topic, to demonstrate the real importance of DTIC as a strategy of continuing education for professionals in the health field , especially those inserted in Primary Health
