Resumo: The central objective of this study was to identify the importance of performance evaluation based on competencies for organizational development in two companies that are among the best to work according to consulting firm Great Place to Work (GPTW) the real estate segment and located in Fortaleza/Ce. The specific objectives of this research were anchored in the perception of the managers of these companies about the importance of performance evaluation for competence in culture change and systematic development according to the theory of organizational development. This study made assumptions as changes in organizational culture, changes planned and systematic development of the organizations provided for assessing performance skills. The theoretical framework of this study addressed the following themes: managing human performance in organizations; errors in assessing performance; performance management competency; theory of organizational development; organizational culture; planned change and development. A multiple case study whose analysis of the information given by means of content analysis and identify the best companies to work the GPTW (2012 ) was conducted was conducted through documentary analysis. Data were collected through individual and structured interviews with the managers of these companies. The results of this research show that the performance evaluation skills brought by changes in culture brought changes and was important for the systematic development of the companies surveyed.
