Resumo: |
The technological advances, along with the development of a series of editing tools, enabled the increase in production of texts notably marked by the interaction between imagetic, auditory and linguistic elements. The inter-relation between the various semiotic modes provides the construction of different meanings, among them those of evaluative nature. Therefore, it is necessary to understand how images (static or dynamic), letters and sounds interact in the construction of these meanings. Thus, the objective of this study is to map the resources used in the interface of the verbal means and static imaging for the production of evaluative meanings attitudinal and gradual in cartoons. The idea supported is that as well as the verbal signs express the evaluative intensity, the emotions and the judgments of the textual producer, in the same way, the imagetic signs manifest evaluative values through the relation between the representational, compositional and interactive meanings. As theoretical references the postulates of Bakhtin (2009, 2011) on the ideological character of the signs were presented; Halliday (1989; 2004) in relation to the concepts of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL); Barthes (1977; 1984; 1990), Dondis (1997) and Kress and Van Leeuwen (2006) about the relationship between text and image, and on the composition of the imaging mode and Farina (1982), Guimarães (2000; 2003), Kress and van Leeuwen (2002), Frase and Banks (2007), Goethe (2011), and Heller (2013) regarding the effects of color on the state of human soul and its symbolism. In addition, the ideas of Martin and White (2005), Martin and Rose (2007) and Vian Junior (2011) were used as the model of evaluative analysis of language and discussing the contributions of Cagnin (1975), Maringoni (1996), Romualdo (2000) and Teixeira (2005) for the study of the cartoon genre. The corpus of analysis is formed by 44 cartoons published between 01 April 2017 and 30 June 2017 on the website of the newspaper from Ceara O Povo. The cartoons deal with the theme of the situation of moral crisis experienced by the Brazilian political class and the legal and economic consequences of this crisis. As a result, it was observed that the use of body and facial expressions as evaluative affective marks, the use of classificatory symbolic and conceptual structures as resources of expression of judgment, the deletion of the actor as appreciative possibility and the employment of repeating elements, in spatial distribution or varied in size to express the increase in the intensity of the evaluative force. The relevance of this work lies in the need for drafting an evaluative intersemiotic analysis model for which is a facilitator instrument of reading and interpretation of texts verbiage/image. |
