Resumo: The cashew nut sheel Liquid (CNL) is composed by Anacardic acid, cardol, 2 - Metil -Cardol and Cardanol. Nce apllied to it the descarboxilation process, this mixture becomes rich in Cardanol, and it is denominated as technical Cardanol. All these components has a lateral insaturated chain with 15 caron atoms, meta substituted. Among all of these components, Cardanol presents the largest potential applicability. Normally, the available Cardanol in the international market is produced by bath distillation as well as thin film distillation processes. N both process, the Cardanol contains reasonable quantities of Cardanol applications requires a product with a high purity degree, once the dihidrics components present toxicity. O, various methods have been proposed to obtain this performace. This work proposes to compore of a comparative study between Kumar ́s and Tyman ́s methods, as well as, suggest a new method with presents advantages in relation to these ones, which has as main objective the Cardanol purification. T should be stresses that in both methods, amines are employed in order to separate dihidrics and polymerized components from cardanol through the use of solvents. The results of this work indicates that it has been obtained reproductibility in relation to the Tyman ́s methos, which has not not been observed in relation to the Kumar ́s method, that foresees a complete separation of the dihidrics components. A new methos has been proposed to obtain a complete separation of the dihidrics components, including the polymerized from the technical Cardanol, using uitosana a sa renewable an biodegradable biopolymer through the use of solvent. The results from this work support the superiority of the new method in relation to the Kumar an Tyman methods.
