Descritive stuuy with the objeciive of to analyze lhe suspending or canceling of surgery in a University Hospital, in São Luís - MA. Data were collected from March to May of 2002, thronghout filled up lhe instrument oí research to each suspending surgery, starting with the information gotten by the nurse of the surgery center. The 250 suspending surgeries, that is 19,08% of the total of programmed surgeries in the period. The ieasons of suspention are relationed to surgery group (30,4%), followed by causes relationed to institution (30,0%), causes relationed to not presence of the patient to be interned (24,0%) and causes relationed to the patient not having clinicai conditions (15,6%). The suspention ocorreu in ai specialities, from among orthopedics and neurosurgery presented biggest frequency... respectivily of suspention. The índice of late ancelling of surgery, sornething about 51,6% from programmed in the year. Some canceiiing were made more from thee times. It concludes that the spention of surgeries were rnade by non existanue of a rnanagement and qualíty politicai in a Service made, not only to the structure, process and results, but, also, to satisfaction of client/human being and subject of care from health professionals. |
