Pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence , sexual and defecatory dysfunction are a group of medical conditions known as pelvic floor di sorders. The aim of the study was to evaluate the relationship between measures of the posterior compartment prolapse through the quantification system of pelvic organ prolapse (POP - Q) and the presence of constipation, fecal incontinence symptoms, quality of life and sexuality, as well other data from history and physical examination. It is case - control study conducted in urogynecology outpatient tertiary hospitals in Fortaleza. Adult patients reported symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction were eligible. All were assessed for severity of defecat ó rias disorders using the Wexner System of constipation and fecal incontinence scores. They were also asked about the quality of life (QOL) and sexuality using the SF - 36 and IPCS - 12 questionnaires, respectively. The 26 5 patients were divided into two groups according to the extent Bp point (posterior vaginal wall prolapse - POP - Q): Group case: Bp> 0 and Control Group: Bp ≤ 0). It compared the groups for the presence of constipation, the presence of fecal incontinence, the QV and sexuality and the data of the clinical history and physical examination. The groups were similar in the following variables: Wexner score of constipation; Wexner score of fecal incontinence, number of caesarean sections and IPCS - 12 deliveries. Ther e was no correlation between the severity of posterior prolapse with the severity of constipation complaints by the Wexner score. In assessing the quality of life by SF - 36 was no significant difference between groups in only one domain, the general percept ion of health. The severity of posterior vaginal wall prolapse does not seem to increase the complaints of constipation and not of fecal incontin ence, but it seems to get worse qualit y |
