Resumo: This study presents a pedagogical proposal aimed at exploring the potential of Brazilian popular music as a tool for the socio-emotional development of young students. Wallon's theory is used as a central reference to support the approach and application of concepts related to socio-emotional development, with the goal of transforming the lives of the learners. The research was conducted at Centro Educacional Piaget School, located in Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso, and involved students aged between 13 and 17 years old. Over twelve classes held during non-school hours, activities were conducted that utilized Brazilian popular music as a support to promote the socio-emotional development of the youth. The results of this work were documented through extra art class lesson plans and avideo featuring a musical group formed by the students themselves. Through these activities, it was possible to observe the positive impact of Brazilian popular music on the socio-emotional development of the students. This research contributes to the field of education by demonstrating the importance of Brazilian popular music as a pedagogical resource in the socio-emotional development of young individuals. The obtained results can serve as a foundation for future interventions and educational practices aimed at promoting the well-being and personal growth of students.
