Resumo: | Sports nutrition has aim to adjust the energy and nutrient needs to better performance. However, athletes often adopt unbalanced diet ingesting drinking fluids and nutrients in inappropriate manner which can reduce performance. Studies suggest that high blood concentrations of ammonia exercise-induced associated to diet with low proportions of carbohydrate (CHO), here called the ketogenic, dehydration and / or hyperthermia, cause alterations in neuronal metabolism that are associated with damage to the motor and cognitive activity. Nevertheless, searches for resources that can mitigate the high concentrations of blood ammonia to promote and protect the performance has been made. The aim this study was evaluated the acute effect of keto analogues supplementation (KAAA) and status of hydration on physical and cognitive-motor performance in cyclists undergoing to exercise under low heat stress environment. This work comprises three chapters, consisting of one rewiew and two original articles. The first article, "Exercise-induced hyperammonemia and it is relationship with fatigue" aimed to provide information on ammonia metabolism and it is relationship with exercise, fatigue, and the use of keto analogues as a protection for the metabolism and athletic performance. This article showed that the ammonia produced in high concentrations is a toxic metabolite that exercise may exacerbate this production and the KAAA supplementation may protect the performance of athletes. The second article, " Keto analogues and amino acid supplementation and its effects on ammonemia and performance under thermoneutral conditions" evaluated KAAA supplementation on ammonia metabolism after high intensity exercise and cognitive-motor performance under low heat stress environment. It was showed that KAAA supplementation reduced concentrations of ammonia, but does not affect physical performance and cognitive-motor athletes. The third article, " Effect of differents hydration status on physical and cognitivemotor performance of athletes submittes to exercise under low heat stress enviroment" evaluated the differents hydration status on cognitive-motor performance of athletes submitted exercise on low heat stress environment. It was showed that a loss of up to 3% of body mass, did not affect physical performance and cognitive-motor athletes acclimated to heat and changes of body mass should not be used with single parameter for the performance loss analysis. |
