Resumo: | Throughout the second half of the twentieth century, education-related research has been gaining more space in the Academy. It is within this proposal that this work is inserted. Most researchers analyze imperial society through economics, society, family, and slavery. However, they forget or fail to mention how education was one of the most discussed issues during the imperial period - from Independence in the year 1822. Brazilian educational context gained notoriety from studies made by Élia Barbosa Andrade, José Gonçalves Gondra, Alessandra Schueler, Cynthia Greive Veiga, Mary del Priore, etc. With the granting of the Constitution of 1824, the teaching of first letters becomes mandatory in the most populous towns and villages in the provinces. The present proposal aims to map aspects related to the Brazilian educational process, focusing mainly on students from Alagoas, questions about gender and ethnicity will also be discussed, because in some school maps, it is possible to identify the "qualities" - ethnicity of the students. For that, we analyzed school maps, letters issued to the police station, teachers' offices and reports of provincial presidents. The methodology used will be to transform the data collected in the Public Archive of Alagoas into plain text. |
