Resumo: | Study of contradictions development in Maranhão’s Amazon specifically the city of Açailândia, as an area of "readjustment space-time of capital" (Harvey, 2005). We discuss the expansion of big capital, embodied in so-called "big projects" from the Grand Carajas project Brazil. We analyze the link between the global and the regional concentration and centralization of capital large economic groups such as the Vale, JBS Friboi, SUZANO S/A, Galvao Queiroz, Ferronorte, boosters of a process of economic exploitation of the region, under development discourse, the contrast between economic growth and social development, so that there is an intense concentration of wealth, contrasting with high slave labor existing in the city. Finally it examines how major developments in existing Açailândia - the guzeiras, eucalyptus plantations, extensive livestock farming, undertake basic rights of the population, such as housing, health, access to land, highlighting, in this scenario, the community Piquiá Low, which embodies the reality of exploitation embodied in an intense and accelerated transfer of wealth to the great hegemonic centers of the capital |
