Resumo: A prospective study was carried out to evaluate the indicators for the prognosis of canine cutaneous mastocytoma, through clinical, cytopathological and histopathological exams. This study evaluated 70 animals treated at the Veterinary Hospital Francisco Edilberto Uchoa Lopes da UEMA, São Luís, during the period from January 2017 to May 2019. Dogs were included without restriction of sex, age or race, with cytological diagnosis of mastocytoma, susceptible to surgical excision of the formation, and dogs with confirmed diagnosis for mastocytoma by hitopathological examination after surgical excision. Of the four who had metastasis, two were diagnosed with grade II and two with grade III. During the period of monitoring of the animals, a total of five deaths were recorded, of these two were diagnosed with grade III and the others with grade II. The remaining animals that presented low grade neoplasia had a favorable prognosis. It was not possible to correlate the cytological and histopathological examination, because of the 68 animals submitted to the cytology examination, only 13 dogs collected samples for biopsy. Regarding the treatment was observed 81.42% did not perform treatment due to lack of recourse or negligence on the part of the guardian.
