Análise de variáveis da qualidade de vida em câmpus universitários : um estudo de caso

The objective of the present paper was to analyze the representative variables of the quality of life in universities campi, according to the perception of its community. Thus, there was the attempt of making a general and spatial assessment of the proposed indicators to discover in which way, positively or negatively, each one of them contributes to the quality of life. The topics covered in this study were the environment, accessibility/mobility, services and security. For evaluation the topics were dismembered in the following items: climate, landscape, noise, furniture, cleaning, crosswalk, sidewalk infrastructure, commutes by car, bus stops and bus lines, parks, general accessibility, infrastructure for bicycle, services of general management, bank services, networking, wireless internet, feed, librarians, doctors, infrastructure of work/class rooms, traffic accidents, signal and guidance and theft. The analysis considered for the case were based in the main Campus of the Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM), which is located in the city of Maringá, state of Paraná. The methodology used was questionnaires applied by Google Docs program, where forms were sent to all individuals that use the classes, teachers, students and techniques. The participants were 2296 Institutional members, who filled the online form completely. In order to analyze in a spatial way the attributes in terms of quality of life of the region, it was used a Geographic Information System (GIS) through Arc Map ® GIS software version 9.2.Then, there was also the division of the UEM region in four major areas: area 1 (old wing), area 2 (east), area 3 (academic) and area 4 (square games). In general, the attributes that had the worst evaluation were commuting by car, the insecurity about thefts, the infrastructure space for bicycles, the adequacy of the furniture, the number of parking lots and the accessibility. The variables that received the best ratings were the landscape, library services, network services and wireless internet, and the doctors. Among the four subjects studied, the services were scored only in a positive or favorable way. Talking about the spatial analysis, the result showed that there are differences between the evaluations of the four areas subdivided for analysis, and in general, the 1 and the 2 areas are between a "good" and "regular" class quality, while the 3 and the 4 areas are in he most part a "regular" class quality. The research enabled the identification of the most important parameters for the user and the GIS enabled to detect the priority areas in order to make improvements in the university campus and to have an environment with higher quality of life.
