Resumo: | In this study the introduction of pharmaceutical consultation in the development of pharmaceutical care in type 2 diabetic patients were evaluated. Fifty patients were selected among patients from the Pharmacy School or People's Pharmacy of State University of Maringá (city of Maringá, Paraná state, Brazil), with fasting glycemia - 140mg/dl or glycated Hemoglobin A1C - 7.0 %. During twelve months the follow-up evaluated drug therapy and its monitoring through the laboratory tests, vital signs, anthropometry and body composition. These procedures were done after the first interview and repeated every 4 months. The results showed a correlation between self-care and glycated hemoglobin A1C, lipid profile and vital signs. The concordance with drug treatment and pharmacological correction of drug related problems (drug's necessity, effectiveness and safety) contributed to these results. After one year, there was an improvement of type 2 diabetes and hypertension (76%), hypercholesterolemia (24%), hypertriglyceridemia (32%) and other comorbidities (24%). Therefore, pharmaceutical consultation is a very important tool to systematize the application of pharmaceutical care to patients with type 2 diabetes by improving self-care behaviors and their relationship with health indicators, with the advantage of its use in other chronic diseases. |
