Resumo: | Built according to a modern urban plan, Maringá consists in an episode of urban and regional planning promoted by a private company taking part, even in particular ways, of the Brazilian modernization process in the post-Second World War period. Researches on the history of architecture and urbanism of the colonization area of the CTNP/CMNP are marked by recurrent and close relations between pioneer front and São Paulo metropolis, from the considerations on the coffee-growing economy and the allotment and settlement of urban areas, to the work of São Paulo-based professionals, always indicated as responsible for the conception of a modern urban landscape and architectural expression. Despite the fact that the dualistic theories of Brazilian underdevelopment have been overcome since the late 1960s, the notions of center and periphery still find place in the contemporary debate, specially when discussing the dynamics of cultural exchange and circulation of ideas in Latina America. Resuming this debate, the research intends to perform a critical review of the historiography and establish hypotheses concerning episodes of architecture, urbanism and urbanization of Maringá, Pr, while testing new interpretive visions of this production. It assumes that the investigation of these dynamics may cast new perspectives on the investigation of the urbanization processes and the construction of Brazilian territory and cities. |
