This dissertation analyzes the project of the new cities planned in the west of Paraná state by the company Maripá and the regional configuration for it established. This private colonization company was responsible for the colonization of a 275.000 ha area approximately, in which it projected fifteen new urban settlements, created roads and configured a part of the western Paraná landscape from 1946 on. Through the use of urban morphology, this work considers historical antecedents of the colonization development, just like the social and economic context, rural parcelling, the position and the urban way adopted for each city and interprets the records they left in that region.
