This work intends to investigate subjective and objective aspects of what has been called in contemporary narcissism, from authors who study the phenomena and characteristics related to it. The central idea is to make a psychosocial analysis of narcissism, understanding how it relates to forms of suffering that is being seen as the hallmarks of our time in history. We introduce, at first, the psychoanalytic definition of the concept of narcissism, to then investigate social and cultural aspects that are related to the process of social promotion of contemporary narcissism. We emphasize the features of consumer society and society of the spectacle, which stoked the individual helplessness and promote identification with the totalitarian society through the cultural industry. Accordingly, we investigate the structural and destructive dimension of narcissism, aiming to better understand the narcissism that is raised or exacerbated in the face of psychosocial violence that it is suffered by individuals nowadays.
