Resumo: This work proposes the production of micro and nanoparticles of poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) for the encapsulation and modified release drug delivery system of active substances for the application in the agricultural, food and pharmaceutical. The single emulsion solvent evaporation and supercritical anti-solvent (SAS) methods were used for the production of micro/nanoparticles. The molecule of Progesterone (P4) was used as model active substance due your lipophilic properties. The morphology of the particles was evaluated by dynamic light scattering technique (DLS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The analytical methods of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric (TGA) were used to evaluate thermal degradation of PMMA micro/ nanoparticles. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was employee to valuation the PMMA chemical degradation and the incorporation of P4 in the matrix PMMA. The encapsulation efficiency was evaluated in absolute ethanol and modified release time of the substance model was evaluation by study in vitro (hydro alcoholic solution, 40% v/v ethanol). The modified release time using the single emulsion solvent evaporation method was superior to SAS process. The preliminary results indicate that methods proposed have application potential to lipophilic molecules system like herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers.
