Resumo: This dissertation has as objective the analysis of the work of poetry to the youth Batman´s Duel against MTV by Sérgio Capparelli, addressing issues related to the young universe and the reader´s position before the poetic text. The research is justified on the basis of the few existing studies related to poetry, and in particular, the poetry dedicated to the young reader. The undertaken analysis has as theoretical reference the Esthetic of Reception and the Theory of Effect, currents that conceive the reader as an active element in the act of reading and active participant in the process of assigning meanings to the text. Several concepts of the Esthetic of Reception and Theory of Effect were specifically addressed, that analyses the effects of the literary text caused in the reader, expanding its horizon of expectations and promoting reflections. For that, we opted for a bibliographic research of investigative slant. The survey results point out that Batman's Duel against the MTV shows it is an important and significant work of poetry for young people, since it comprises the current and emancipative trends of the children's literature. By the instigating thematic, the generation conflict and youth contradictions and by the constitution of voids present in the textual structure, the work enables intense involvement of the reader in the constitution of meanings and in the activation of the imaginary, it also contributes to the formation of critic and reflexive readers since it reflects and questions the youth reality, and, through poetic language, transforms it leading the reader to perceive himself before the lived experiences and to be touched by the richness of the esthetic conceive.
