Resumo: From a general perspective and by means of a diachronic view, this study comprehends the production of novels translated to Portuguese language and sold in newsstands, old-books shops and subscription systems; in such work, these exts are called "good girl novels" and "good guy novels". Its main objective is the textual comparison of both theoretical genres and in the verification of an ideal reader projected by these texts. The view, at the same time critical and theoretical, supposes not only the cultural and immediate social context being the basis of a critical work, but also its insertion in a major process, which implies the act of reading and the consumption of such novels. The structural and morphological course has resulted in broad assertions; thus, the need for theory as reference and support for the research has come into considerations based on the theory of the novel and on the cultural industry. From the theory of the novel, of Bakhtin and Luckács are used; about the cultural industry this work is based on Adorno and Garcia Canclini. From these theoretical crossings it was possible to recognize the corpus representativity as a guide of the analytical process, in the (in)variations and analysis deviations. For such reason this work has taken two paths: one of descriptive analysis and another of possible uses of the text. This course has allowed a series of questions towards two conceptions: the first being genealogic; the second, being marketguided. Thus, the research set out from the corpus to a process understanding which contextualize it historically, socially and culturally; that is, from the novel readings to their origin, the problem of the cultural industry and reader formation, aiming to articulate a reflection which would take origin, circuit and texts.
