Resumo: This study comes from restlessness to see the place and importance of the production of graphite and graffiti culture in Alagoinhas-BA nowadays. The project was designed to investigate an emerging issue that arouses the sensibility of society alagoinhense. The work turns to the experience of graffiti artists and taggers who make up a group of five subjects in the period December 2011 to April 2012. The fieldwork was carried out by direct observation, interviews and collection of images. The contributions of the subjects in their testimonies reveal claims their struggles and contestations caught in public space as a set of signs that mark on the walls and walls of the city. The analogy between the production and ideologies of individuals surveyed indicate elements of city identity alagoinhense expressing social values, economic and political. It could be observed that the city still has a motion Alagoinhas graphite and graffiti and incipient peripheral. But in recent years the culture of graphite and graffiti in Alagoinhas started getting a different look and a social recognition. Beforehand the graphite and graffiti in Alagoinhas have traits similar shapes and colors of other cities brazilian. The subjects surveyed say the graphite and graffiti are used as entries as artistic and visual language of his group produced for society. The research proposes that the information contained in the productions can be viewed and used not only as a work of art, but what they say and mean these productions to society.
