Resumo: The teaching of Geography has the role of promoting the student development enabling him to understand reality from the point of view of spatiality. Such teaching becomes more enhanced when it is linked to aspects of the spatial reality in which the student is inserted and when the teaching resources are adequate to it. In this sense, Geotechnologies have emerged as powerful tools for the facility to add computer programs that contribute to the development of teaching materials. The general objective of the research is to evaluate the potential of Geotechnologies to the process of teaching and learning in the local context of the municipality of Pé de Serra, Bahia. The dissertation is organized into three main parts. The first is the literature review about the importance of place in the globalized world, the teaching of geography and the local context, Geotechnologies for teaching and didactic resource. The second comprises the diagnosis with the Geography textbook used in the municipality, with the teachers of Geography and with a group of students of the 7th year of Basic Education. The third covers the development of workshops with the teacher and the student as a proposal to use teaching materials elaborated from Geotechnologies. In the diagnosis made in the municipality of Pé de Serra, this study shows that the textbook is the main resource used in Geography classes, but the approach of the local reality is restricted in these works. Based on this diagnosis were elaborated from the program Quantum Geographic Information Systems (QGIS), thematic maps of the city (location, soil, Lithology, Isohyets, Hydrography, Identity Territory, Population, Urban Percentage, Chart-image) which formed the basis for the activities with students from 7th year class, who positively evaluated the workshop with the soil maps, Lithology and Chart-image of the municipality. Most of the students evaluated “excellent” or “very good” the contribution of the didactic material to their learning. However, the workshop developed with the teachers showed that it is necessary to provide a theoretical and methodological basis about Geotechnologies, because most had no initial training in this area. The teachers applied the proposal of didactic contextualized material in their classes and evaluated positively. The workshop also showed that teachers can know and use Geotechnologies as a support to Geography teaching, allowing the student to develop geographical knowledge and build their idea of the world on a local and global scale. As a conclusion of the study the fact that it appears the Geotechnologies are important educational resources that enable both teachers and Geography students to appropriate local knowledge, without neglecting the global knowledge
