Thepresent workaimstoanalyzetheprocessofinsertionofruralwomenintheUnionof Rural Workers and Family Farmers of Serrinha-SINTRAF and how this participation contributes to new perspectives of power in the public and private spheres, in the municipality of Serrinha-BA, located in the Sisal Identity Territory, in the semi-arid region of Bahia. In order to achieve the general objective, we sought to describe the process of affiliation, identify women and their roles, as well as relate the insertion of women in the union with the construction of female identities. This is a qualitative research based on semi-structured interviews. The reality of rural workers in Serrinha demonstratesthat,althoughthereisstillawaytogo,womenhavemadeprogressinterms of participation in public spaces, as well as their prominent role in the search for autonomy and politicalparticipation. Engagement in social movements opens space for theprocessofre-significationoftheirpositioninrelationships, whichreverberatesinthe perception and behavior of the positions imposed on them, and in the reconstruction of their identity.
