This research analyzes the material cultural heritage in Tefé, in the state of Amazonas, through an interdisciplinary perspective, putting history, archeology, anthropology and cultural geography in dialogue to understand the nuances that involve the heritage issue in urban contexts. The main objective is to investigate the relationship between material cultural heritage and the city, considering the transformations in the urban space of the city of Tefé and its influence on the built heritage of the city. The urban space of Tefé houses elements of material culture that are expressed in old buildings with historical and social value, which are subject to the dynamics of urban life and existing interests in the city, especially the economic ones. Such interests directly influence the look and actions performed on the built heritage in Tefé.
