Resumo: |
Acute respiratory infections are the most common disease in all individuals. Influenza viruses A and B have been reported as the etiology of more than 50% of acute respiratory infections worldwide. This study aimed to describe the epidemiological and demographic profile cases of patients with acute respiratory illness caused by influenza A and B in Guarapuava community. We collected 144 samples of nasal secretions from patients with symptoms of respiratory infection treated at primary care Desk's health Vila Carli, in Guarapuava-PR, for a period of two consecutive winters. For investigation of the occurrence of influenza A and B was standardized and applied to polymerase chain reaction methodology preceded by reverse transcription (RT-PCR). Respiratory infections were characterized by the presence of: rhinorrhea (95.81%) and cough (74.31%), and patients were treated with a median of 4 days from the onset of symptoms. Among the comorbidities main symptomatic patients reported listed Hypertension (%) and diabetes (%), and 32% of patients were immunized against influenza. And the standard RT-PCR methodology was applied to the samples, however, they were reported cases of respiratory infection, influenza B only in three patients with respiratory symptoms in the city of Guarapuava- PR, which detracted from the description of clinical conditions associated factors risk and use of drugs in infected cases. With this suggests that more attention should be given to viral pathogens, increasing health care during flu season, especially in this region of Paraná, since it is a cold region, for a more accurate diagnosis of this population. |
