Resumo: This work brings forth the material conditions of life for workers / students of nightly school of basic education in Guarapuava-PR. This research was done from the application of a questionnaire regarding thematic sections that deal with the conditions of work, study, leisure and rest especially aimed to examine the association between work and other social times. Thus, an empirical work with the five schools that offer evening classes in basic education in the county involving a total of 544 students who completed the questionnaire. We start from the understanding that the working time of the employee / student nightly has negatively influenced and determined the limit of the remaining time needed for human existence and therefore prevents a consistent training for these subjects who fail to perform well, both by casualization and labor intensity as the fragility of nightly school. It is understood to be an urgent need to better understand the real subjects for which we build educational discourses and, most often depart from reality, thus furthering the discussion about the difficulties, limitations, motivations and expectations of those subjects who experience daily double journey: day job and nightly study. Thus, for the interpretation and understanding of our subject, we take as a guide the methodological assumptions that underpin the social theory of Marx, understanding that they allow us to learn, analyze and reflect on the object of study more consistently. It follows from the empirical data presented and discussed that in fact the workday takes considerable time of life for workers / students of basic education in evening classes, especially considering the workload in its expanded form beyond formal journey. Alia to this aspect also the physical and mental exhaustion resulting from these subjects workday, a condition that prevents the assimilation capacity at the time of the classes. The research shows that while the work is a big lever pair entry in evening classes, only these studies is conditioned on a precarious situation.
