Patents are of great importance to the technological development of a country as intellectual property under an invention or utility model attracts investment and therefore wealth. Historically patents are recognized as an instrument which will guarantee the authorship of the invention to its creator also provides that it can have full right to exploit it commercially. With the advent of machines to the internal combustion was a technological race to improve engine and fuel used. For a long time reigned at all the petroleum-based fuels, but this source is a nonrenewable resource and highly polluting, generating the need from 1970s of new renewable energy sources and environmentally friendly. Research in biodiesel has enough attracted worldwide attention due to the oil crisis. New, clean and renewable technologies that reduce dependence on fossil fuels and help in environmental conservation has been promoted around the world, and Brazil stands out in this scenario as the vanguard of various government stimulus programs to these surveys. Some discoveries have already become successful programs like Pro-alcohol which is a reference for everyone. A patent search is a tool that along with the literature review has shown good results as an indicator of technological bottlenecks and innovation. Research in biodiesel receive government incentives and is often guided by the edicts of agencies for research or regional aspirations. This paper aims to show through a survey of patents in Brazil, using the main keywords that relates to the biodiesel manufacturing steps or raw materials considered avant-garde in its production seeks to point numbers in the technological development in this area in order to guide new studies. |
