Resumo: | In Brazil, insufficient academic research associated with the presence of myths, wrong views based on individuals with high ability/giftedness, encouraging their discrimination, thus constituting obstacles to the specialized education of these students. According to the World Health Organization - WHO, approximately 3-5% of the school population are students with giftedness characteristics and, although there were progress in studies on high skills, much remains to be done about the educational aspects, terms of identification, knowledge and care of these. Considering a variety of the high skills development areas, this research emphasizes the high skills in the academic area, specifically in mathematics. This study was developed in order to provide insight to help teachers in mathematics enrichment activity for mathematically skilled students in Multifunctional Resource Room for High Abilities/Giftedness. The objective specifically know the math skills of these students; reflect on teaching practices in Mathematics adopted in the resource room classes for high skills; and propose the enrichment of mathematical activity developing the project called "Probability and build games for a tournament," which is the object of this educational research. In this investigation, we adopted a qualitative approach and refers to a case study. The sample consisted of seven students divided into two groups, Group 1 with two students with characteristics of giftedness and Group 2 with five students without giftedness. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and the application and analysis of the activities that comprise the educational object. The survey results show the mathematical gifted of students with high ability/giftedness, revealing that the project proved suitable for these students, confirming the need for investment as regards the training of teachers to adapt teaching strategies for the development of students with high skills. |
