Resumo: |
In this work, knowledge about pelvimetry in animals of the Brangus breed was deepened, with the aim of knowing the average size of the pelvis of females. For primiparous women, this information will allow checking the earliest possible moment for reproduction, without dystocia occurring due to maternal-fetal disproportion, which generates major economic losses for the livestock sector through increased loss of calves, increased veterinary costs, reduced performance. subsequent reproductive loss of the cow, potential loss of the cow and reduced milk production. In the experiment, 50 heifers and 47 Brangus cows were used, primiparous and pluriparous, capable of carrying out reproductive activity. The average and standard deviation of the weight of the cows was 510.17±65.18 kg and that of the heifers was 296.53±40.86kg, showing that they already had 59.2% of their adult weight. The mean and standard deviation of the ellipse area in cows was 189.29±30.96 cm, and in heifers 113.89±18.51 cm, which represents 60.16% of the estimated adult area. A positive correlation was obtained between thoracic perimeter and mean biiliac diameter, external biiliac diameter with internal sacropubic diameter and weight with ellipse area, of the animals analyzed. Such correlations allow us to conclude that these external measurements can be used as a matrix selection criterion when internal pelvimetry is not possible. No female required assistance during birth. Therefore, the dimensions of the pelvises of the females evaluated in this experiment were sufficient to allow the passage of conceptuses. |
