Resumo: Liturgical normativity finds its primary source in the liturgical action itself. This implies interpreting the norms on the basis of the theological meaning of the liturgical action, in the light of the Scriptures and the Tradition of the Church. The Christian liturgical act is a memorial of the Paschal Mystery, but as a ritual action, it is also a human act which takes place in a variety of historical and cultural contexts. Using the categories of play and symbol, this study questions the biblical notion of "covenant" as the basis for the juridical constitutive character of the liturgy. It also confronts the permanent debate which, in the Church, has opposed "rigorists" and "laxists" since the first centuries. This research on liturgical normativity brings to light various models whose comparison makes it possible to grasp the complexity of this phenomenon in the past as well as in the present and to reveal its open and dynamic nature.
