Resumo: |
Here in Brazil the undergraduate curricula in Administration contemplate only one discipline aimed at teaching the Portuguese language, in this case, almost always directed to its instrumental aspects, such as the study of some of the main texts that are produced and circulate in the context of management. business. There is no other basis for studying to support students on other important fronts, such as the desirable and necessary reinforcement in academic reading and writing, for example. In this sense, I see here the possibility of investigating how the teaching of genres in subjects not related to the Portuguese language, such as Logistics, Production, Finance and others, present in the curricula of Administration courses, could bring contributions to improvements in the processes of teaching and learning its contents. Thus, in a first stage, a model for the analysis of the genre 'Problem Statement' (PS) was developed, which describes the rhetorical strategies that guide the organization of information in the texts of these statements, according to the socio-rhetorical methodology of gender analysis from English to Specific Purposes, specifically of the CARS Model proposed by Swales (1990; 2004) and adapted for the object of study in focus. This analysis model was inferred from the analysis of a corpus, consisting of 40 texts of the problem statements, proposed in a textbook used as a basic reference for several subjects of the Administration Course, offered by the Catholic University of Pernambuco. In a second stage, this analysis model was then used, in the classroom, as a teaching object when using the PS genre in teaching and learning activities - during classes (content exposure, problem solving and mini-tests) and in events evaluation of disciplines (intermediate and final tests). At the end of this research developed in the classroom during an academic semester, it was possible to observe improvements in the students' academic performance, notably in terms of a better organization of the texts' answers' presented by the students, a better understanding of the contexts of the proposed problems and to the subsequent directions of their actions from the commands explained in the respective statements. It can be concluded that the studies developed here, considering their time limitations (one academic semester), represent a first step, capable of contributing to new discussions on teaching centered on the genres of disciplines from other professional courses not related to the teaching of languages. |
