Resumo: |
Language is, at the same time, the main culture product and the principal resource of cultural transmission. Language use in a society like ours, which is in constant transformation and provided with very dynamic and sophisticated means of communication, requires a varied and conscious linguistic practice that is suited to different communicative situations. So that, the language is an articulate element in the learning process. Thus, the school is unavoidably a place where the linguistic practice is effective and the mother-tongue teaching makes the student a contemporary in order to have a widespread social participation in his epoch..It is the school function to teach the formal mother-tongue language; although, the existance of a linguistic variety may be accepted. Also, an exclusive dialectal pattern, by social conventions, may be rejected. Every single student brings along with him an inner linguistic knowledge that cannot be disconsidered; hence, his dialect is not replaced, but new expressions are added to it. He has conditions to choose the linguistic expression, that is more suitable to a certain communicative situation, and uses the mother-tongue language in a conscious and meaningful way. This project shows a reflection on the formal Portuguese language teaching and describes a practical teaching experience articulated with the student universe. Based on that, not only can the student communicate, but he can also be an alive element of a cultural historic process that helps men have a necessary critical conscience for a reflective action in the world. |
