This research tried to comprehend the ways tattooists who were Japanese descendants in Brazil go through and think processes of difference construction. It also focused on the ways these processes are related to issues such as ethnicities, ethnic identities, race, phenotype, stereotypes, in relation to their images as Japanese descendants. I realized that these theoretical models were not sufficient to deal with people’s experiences. Therefore, a more fluid and at the same time more specific approach was necessary. So, from a discussion about composite person and “japonesidades”, I tried to show how these tattooers’ experiences were constituted by relations which cannot be thought separately, once they are very rich, complex processes of differences production. These interwoven relations become visible through tattoos too, either through the ones tattooers make in their own bodies or in someone else’s bodies, making possible to see the triangulation of tattoo, japonesidade and body.
