Resumo: The present dissertation is an analysis of the relation between consciousness and exteriority in the second work of philosopher Henri Bergson, Matéria e memoria, 1986. The relations between psychology and metaphysics lead to a philosophy of matter. From the temporal treatment that the philosopher gives to his great themes, it is observed that a psychology of the planes of consciousness is based on a renewal of the modern concept of subjectivity. This brings the French philosopher to a new theory of perception as well as to a new theory of matter. Exploring such relationships is the aim of this work, as it allows an innovative conception of consciousness, with consequences in psychology, metaphysics and aesthetics. Finally, we will analyze the implications of this perspective in the last chapter of the book, in which the philosopher presents its metaphysical consequences. With this, one will seek the originality of Henri Bergson's thought in the various relations that he establishes between subjectivity and the world.
