The objective of this study was to understand the influence of the teachers' person in the humanization of education. When delimiting it, it was intended to verify how the managers, teachers and students of a private school, in the city of Passo Fundo, RS, conceptualize, perceive, value and experience their role, as well as knowing how their interpersonal relationships are given, what their methodologies are and how their training took place. Therefore, a qualitative descriptive research was developed during the first semester of 2016. The subjects of the research were representatives of the managers, who answered a questionnaire, the students of the eighth grade class of Elementary School, who wrote a letter to the teachers who have marked their lives mostly; Finally, these teachers, recipients of student letters, answered a questionnaire and made a statement about the letters received. The basis of the study was presented in diferent categories as: the meaning of the word “to educate”, the meaning of the expression “Human Consciousness”, the role of the school and the teacher, the teacher`s person. Many authors were reviewed, among them: Damásio (1996, 2000), Delors (2012), Enricone (2009), Freire (1974, 1996, 2001), Maturana (1998, 2000, 2016), Morin (1999, 2000), Mosquere (1975, 1980, 2011), Nóvoa (1992, 2003), Palmer (2012), Piaget (1994), Wilber (1986, 2001, 2007) e Yus (1998). The first data of this survey were obtained throught questionnaires and were analysed by descriptive and interpretative means. The Bardin (2004) method was used to analyse the letters and testimonies. Once the main units of the study were identified, new categories were added as: the students`point-of-view of the teachers and their classes, the interaction among teachers, students and material used to teach, the special moments during the classes, the surprise and joy reading the letters, how the teachers evaluate themselves and how they act, and personal and professional background. The results of this study showed the aspects that students value in their teachers, such as the use of innovative and interdisciplinary methodologies, as well as the human qualities that these professionals reveal as: happiness, sense of humor, friendship, self-confidence, humility and empathy. In addition, it was possible to understand how strong the process of identification occurs between the teacher and his/her students, provided that the bonds formed between them are based on trust and love. With these findings, the need to raise teachers' awareness about the influence on their students was stressed and it can be done in spaces of reflection, sharing of experiences and exercise of self-knowledge in the course of their academic formation. |
