The main goal of this paper is to present the phenomenon (de)queísta in the academic Brazilian Portuguese. We are going to use the Corpus Linguistics as a methodology, since we are going to interpret some data like usage, frequency and clusters in order to assemble some statistic data and excel tables. The data source is in the academic Brazilian Portuguese Corpus, which encompasses some published materials such as books, course books, graduate and postgraduate journals. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate some current tendencies in the use of this phenomenon in academic writing: how, why and where it is used. Throughout this paper, we are going to study the phenomenon empirically, observing how syntax, semantics and pragmatics understand it in order to search for information to explain why this tendency occurs and what motivates its usage in academic Brazilian Portuguese |
