This dissertation shows the reflections and research on the misery and poverty of a large part of the Brazilian population, its causes and consequences. It also seeks to understand in the light of official Church documents what is meant and intended by “salvation”. It seeks in renowned theologians references for the link between the poor and salvation, poverty and liberation, socio-political and religious commitments. Finally, in the light of Jon Sobrino's reflections and suggestions such as those of Pope Francis, in Clara and Francisco's Economy, it seeks to point out ways that lead to salvation, the eradication of misery and the reduction of poverty.
