Resumo: |
Cognitive rehabilitation has the main objective of helping patients to live with or overcome cognitive deficits due to a neurological problem. Neuropsychological rehabilitation, on the other hand, focuses not only on cognition, but also on the behavioral and emotional aspects associated with a given condition, aiming at the best possible quality of life for the patient and his family. Currently, rehabilitation has also been used with a wide range of cognitive problems arising from development. By these means, it is understood the importance of systematized materials and of proven effectiveness for the work of rehabilitation, since the current interventions are mainly based on intuition and professional expertise. The lack of uniformity in the methods used in rehabilitation seems to be related to the methodological difficulties to verify the effectiveness of the procedures, the diversity of the populations served and the interdisciplinary character of the area. Because of that, the translation and cultural adaptation of materials to Brazil has broad scientific interest and social impact for the Brazilian population. Thus, this dissertation aimed to translate and culturally adapt the Cognition Functional Rehabilitation Activities Manual for Brazil. This manual helps therapists, professionals and family members to stimulate or rehabilitate cognitive skills of individuals with cognitive difficulties. To answer the objective of the dissertation, an empirical article and a manual with the activities were constructed. The empirical article reports the processes of: 1) Translation and cultural adaptation of the manual for the Brazilian context; and 2) Evidence of content validity through the qualitative analysis of three experts in neuropsychology. There was a level of agreement of 100% among expert judges regarding the main construct rehabilitated by each activity. In relation to their characterization, 16.67% underwent changes based on the analysis of the expert judges, with their adequacy to the current and Brazilian context. The second product of the dissertation is the Cognition Functional Rehabilitation Activities Manual, translated and adapted to the Brazilian context. It presents 60 different activities for the rehabilitation of different cognitive functions. These activities are divided into: guidance, awareness, problem solving, attention and memory, memory and guidance, social interactions, communication, functional reading, money management, organization and community guidance. From these results, it can be concluded that the Cognition Functional Rehabilitation Activities Manual has evidence of content validity for use in Brazil, suggesting its use for the stimulation and rehabilitation of individuals with cognitive difficulties. |
