This study discusses the work of the social worker in Policy Attention to drug users and objectively analyze how the professional category of social workers has been discussing the issue of drug use and their professional practice in the area of scientific productions, in order to elaborate subsidies for improvement of care and contribute to the theoretical production of the category. For this, it was developed a survey of bibliographic nature in the magazine Social Work and Society, reference publication for the occupational category and it was consulted in the Bank of Theses and Dissertations of Brazilians Programs Graduate evaluated by Social Services area of CAPES/MEC in order to identify the amount of publications that discuss the issue of the work of social workers and drug use. Also, it was made use of the resource of documentary research for the analysis of rersearch's database "Policies and Practices to Combat Drug Addiction in Rio Grande do Sul/RS", in order to present an overview of the services for the users of drugs that come with the job of social workers in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre/RS. For the progress of research, was used during the whole the course of the study, the dialectical-critical method with the central categories of analysis: historicity, totality and contradiction. The quantitative data received simple statistical treatment and the qualitative data underwent content analysis technique, based on Bardin (1977). The discussions on the Brazilian Health Policy, about the phenomenon of Drug Use on Society and about the job of Social Worker on Policy Attention to drug users were based on the theoretical frameworks and the results collected during the search. From these data and information, it is possible to conclude that there is a low rate of production on the issue of drugs in the Social Service. The analyzed production allow to conclude that the social workers who work in institutions facing drug addiction, have not theoretically discussed their practices, limiting the production of social work in this area |
