Resumo: |
This research consists of a recovery of the life and work of Brazilian, born in the state of Bahia, chronicler Jehová de Carvalho, his relationship with the city of Salvador and the people who passed or lived there, transformed into characters of his stories. For a better understanding of his story and his critical look over the urban, we went over the chronicles published on the Brazilian newspapers Diário de Notícias, A Tarde and the book A cidade que não dorme: crônicas noturnas de São Salvador da Bahia (The city that does not sleep: nocturnal chronicles of São Salvador of Bahia). This paper contemplates readings about the story of the state of Bahia in books and primary sources, which offer information about the urban and social changes of the city of Salvador, with the purpose of understanding the urban metamorphosis and contextualizing the facts narrated by the author. Similarly, we proceeded towards a study of the genre of chronicle itself, in order to support the proposed study.
