Resumo: The use of various types of data in educational decision making has become a powerful force in the search for improving student learning. In this sense, it is essential to understand that data are not only numbers, but a set of learning evidence stemming from classroom work to conversations between teachers about their activity, and that there is a role played by the work environment on how the practice takes place with the use of data, influencing social relationships among employees. The objective of this work was to evaluate the impacts that the application of the Data Wise Improvement Process (DWIP) has on the work of the teachers of a private elementary school. The research method was an action research with a team of six collaborators, three high school mathematics teachers and three employees from the Educational Technology (TE) sector. In the data collection, initial interviews were conducted with each participant; a description of the improvement process was made; questionnaires were applied on learning the improvement process; and final interviews were conducted with each team member after the completion of the process. In the data analysis, the recordings of the interviews and team meetings were transcribed, applying the technique of content analysis and coding the most relevant themes. The results showed that the overall objective of this thesis was fulfilled. Those involved were able to understand the process of implementing data-based decision-making at school, from the experience of DWIP, demonstrating an understanding of each of its stages and defining, together, its research problem and action plan. It was noticed that, before the research, the participants used little data in their work, because they understood that they were related only to statistics and academic papers. It was understood that the teachers perceived their work as solitary and that the DWIP opens new possibilities for collaborative work. In this sense, the participants revealed how well-structured protocols contributed to people working together more effectively and to lose the fear of leaving their comfort zones, without the fear of being judged or guilty, assuming a posture of individual and collective accountability. Finally, implications for future work were pointed out to assist in the implementation of the DWIP with other teams of this and other schools.
