Resumo: |
This study aimed to investigate how female journalistic activity produced political-educational engagement in the Brazilian context of the 19th century, considering the journal “A Mulher”, by Josefa Águeda Felisbela Mercedes de Oliveira and Maria Augusta Generoso Estrela, published between 1881 and 1883. The investigation sought to bring to the debate the educational context of the nineteenth century and its implications and the prohibitions for women's access to education, especially to Higher Education. It sought, using the principles of female hermeneutics as a methodology, to understand how female periodic writing, as a rich and original source of research, entered this debate, opposing the forms of female education that denied women emancipation - intellectual, political, economic and social – in the second half of the 19th century. It also sought to explore female periodic writing as authorial writing – produced by and for women – capable of showing intellectual and creative capacity on the part of nineteenth-century women and, at the same time, with the ability to promote engagement through the original, argumentative, and militant. |
