Resumo: Due to the increase in the elderly population and life expectancy, new technologies have been used to help the aging process with quality of life. Within these new technologies is the teleassistance, which aims to accompany the elderly in their home, based on communication technologies. This individual, when necessary, can request health care through teleassistance, offering an option for the elderly to remain in their homes. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of life and the expression of coercion of elderly people using assistive technology in the form of teleassistance in the city of Porto Alegre. Methodology: In the case of a cross-sectional study of the prevalent case study, all the clients were invited and 25 people accepted to participate. Inclusion criteria were used to be elderly, that is, people aged 60 or over, and to be using teleassistance technology. The data were collected through interviews in the households of the participants, based on a structured script, with four instruments: a questionnaire with sociodemographic information, a scale to evaluate the quality of life of the elderly using the technology, satisfaction assessment scale with the Use of technology and a Coercion Expression scale. The statistical analysis of the data obtained will be quantitatively evaluated, using descriptive and inferential statistical measures. Results: The sample was composed of 25 elderly people from the city of Porto Alegre who use assistive technology in the form of teleassistance of Tecno Sênior and Irissenior. The mean age was 82.24 years, minimum 60 years and maximum 94 years. The elderly were predominantly female (92%). The majority of the participants were widows (60%). Schooling ranged from four years to 40 years of study, with a mean of 13.58 years. Among the participants, the majority live alone (21%) and only 4 (16%) live with someone, who can be the husband or wife, children or grandchildren. The time of use of teleassistance ranged from two to 60 months, with a mean of 18.4 months. Confidence regarding the use of teleassistance averaged 81.6% and satisfaction with use averaged 85.6%. Conclusion: All the evaluated variables proved favorable results.
