Resumo: |
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a hemodynamic condition characterized by increased pulmonary artery pressure. The Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) is a commonly used method for functional assessment of these patients, whose walked distance is an important prognostic marker of the disease. The Sit and Stand Test (SST) was designed as an alternative for functional assessment in different chronic diseases. In this work, a cross-sectional study was carried out from the Pulmonology Outpatient Clinic of São Lucas Hospital, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, database to verify whether SST could be an alternative for functional assessment in PH patients. The study was approved by the institution's Research Ethics Committee. All 23 patients had PH and underwent both tests. The correlation coefficient between the distance covered and the number of incursions was 0.59 (p = 0.003). Despite a strong correlation between the test variables, it is not yet possible to clinically assume that one test can replace the other, but it is useful in measuring the functional status of patients. |
